About the Playground

The Round structure with overhead events (featured above) along with a 12-swing swing-set, were installed during the fall of 2006. The large structure will be installed in phases. The first part of the large structure, which features the first three 12-ft ramps and round platforms, will be installed in the fall of 2007 if enough money is raised.

Playground Update 10/8

On 9/23, volunteers cut the asphalt in preparation Of the installation. The playground equipment was installed on 9/28, 9/29, and 9/29.

Some of the playground parts were not delivered and are expected to be delivered to Garfield by 10/5.

Rubber tile installation is scheduled for 10/5, 10/6, and 10/7 - only if it doesn't rain. We will begin installation each day around 8:00 am. The plan at this time is to stay past 5 pm each day in order to complete as much of the tile installation as possible on dry days.

Phase 2 Installation - Lots of Volunteers

Phase 2 for the playground installation involved many dedicated volunteers. Parents, previous Garfield parents, HP employees, Home Depot employees, and Rotary Club volunteers did the actual installation.

Here, the asphalt is cut in order to make holes for the posts:

Phase II

An article written by Jennifer Nitson appeared in the October 6th Gazette-Times on the phase II playground installation:

Taking advantage of a break in the weather, volunteers rebuilding Garfield School’s playground hustled Friday to make the place ready for kids.
